Middle School Team - Aug-Oct 2011
Join players from the Charlotte area to learn the sport of field hockey and play competitively against local and regional middle school teams.
Open to girls grades 6, 7 and 8 (6th Graders must have taken a clinic or played before).
This team is designed for young girls, who do not have the sport at their school, to learn and develop a love for the sport. The girls will be asked to commit to the team as if it were a school sport. We will have two teams this year and the practice schedule and locations for each are indicated below.
Our club teams are also open to those athletes who do not make their school teams. Field Hockey tryouts in middle schools are becoming increasing competitive. If you do not make your team at the August tryouts -- you will still be allowed to join our program at the last minute. This will allow you to improve your skills and go out for your school team again next year!
Teams - AMBUSH - SouthPark Area:
Practice times will typically be from 5:15-6:45 with practices on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. We will also have a game scheduled on a 4th day. Practices will be held at Queens Sports Complex AND Charlotte Country Day Middle School off of Carmel Road.
Registration Fee. The cost to play in $365.00 per player. The increased registration fee includes the additional practice day, supplemental player insurance, and new game skirts.
The Season will begin Monday, August 29 and will end on our last game in October (this game will be scheduled for the week of October 15). We will play other middle school teams from Charlotte and Greensboro and possibly travel to a year-end tournament. There may be additional costs for travel or requests for parent carpooling. A Practice and Game Calendar will be available in late July.
Field Hockey Equipment. Each girl that participates is required to have the following equipment: GOGGLES. Mouthpiece, Shinguards, Stick (You can now purchase sticks through the club. Proceeds go to the development of scholarships and equipment purcahses), and cleats/turf shoes are recommended. We do have sample sticks you can use to practice until you know what size works best for you.
Refund Policy
A full refund is available until August 29, 2011. Once the season has started, refunds will not be available.
Team Selection
There will be no tryouts for this team. We understand that most players of this age are new to the sport. We encourage you to participate even if you have never played before. We are looking for players who have good attitudes, we will teach you the rest!
